Fort Knox, KENTUCKY

Last week I went to Kentucky for Kamron's military graduation. My parents, Kamron's parents, and brother Nate were all able to come out for it, which was really awesome. The first day (Wednesday) we got there and we drove around Fort Knox a little bit just to see what the base was like and when we drove over by where the graduation would be... Kamron's company was out practicing for the next day! So I got to see him marching around with his platoon. He carried the flag in front of his platoon so it was easy to spot him :) Of course I couldn't talk to him but it was definitely a fun surprise just being able to see him before his actual graduation! Then (Thursday) the next day was his graduation and family day... it started at 9:00 so we had to be there early to get seated and everything and then there was a pretty short ceremony and all the soldiers walked by and then... it was family day :)

this is his platoon marching by... he is the one carrying the flag

and again...

the first time I got to actually see him and hug him! :)

all the Spauldings at Kamron's graduation

he is definitely a good looking soldier!

Family day ended at 8:00 pm and all the soldiers had to be back on post by this time. It was really fun getting to see him and be with him even if it was for a short amount of time. I hadn't seen him since Feb. 15.... but it really did go by pretty fast. Now he is off to Virginia until August for his AIT training. At least we can talk on the phone now :) that makes it a whole lot easier!

On Friday... after Kamron had already left for Virginia, my family stayed in Kentucky for 2 more days, just to kind of sightsee around. And luckily for us it was the same weekend as the Kentucky Derby. We walked over there on Friday.. which is called the Kentucky Oaks I guess and there were a million people everywhere... all dressed up fancy and cute with the dresses and hats.

At CHURCHILL DOWNS :)

you can see just a little bit of the hats and dresses

then they had a Louisville Cardinals game against the Rutgers and so we went over and watched a little bit of the game.

It was my first trip to Kentucky and it was one of the best trips I've ever been on... (because I got to see Kamron!!) AND... the weather was SO NICE... it was in the 80's the entire time we were there. Sorry this is such a long post... and I say this a lot but I really am so proud of him. He looked good in his uniform and definitely like an Army soldier.
